Boy Scout Halloween Party

Seby, Kyle and Steven after a long night at the boy scout Halloween Party. Their troop puts on this event every year for the cub scouts in the area. Also the little brothers and sisters too! Their event was supposed to be Soak the Scoutmaster but the Scoutmaster backed out at the last minute. Instead of cancelling their event the boys decided to go ahead and get soaked. They did not get dressed up in their costumes but I think they had more fun this way.
Savannah tries out the cat face in Soak the Scout! She must have thrown 100 sponges at the boys and since they all know her pretty well she got right up close and threw the soaked sponge at them.
Fishing in the multipurpose room. May did a great job for Toby's group of boys. The bigger boys like to stay behind the curtain and fill the bucket with candy and treats for the little kids. Savannah had fun doing this more then once. It was just a little crazy when she was swinging the fishing pole!
This was what our boys did last year except this year they used a marshmellow. Personally, I think the doughnut is better because it breaks off the string and it is quicker. For some reason, Savannah knew what they were doing and ran over and became the third player in this round. She could not reach it by laying down so she propped herself up and ate away!

Our USA cheerleader showing off her moves. She was in the parade and also won the Judge's award for the costume contest. We will have to come up with an even better costume next year too!!

What we have been doing on Saturdays...

Soccer!! Savannah has been wanting to return to soccer and since I paid the membership for the whole year we waited until she could move up to the three year old class. We'll we were the only ones to sign up so the coach tried her with the class that was open......the 4-6 year olds! The first day she was the only girl and definately the smallest but she held her own and ran her heart out! She loves it so much and since it is indoor soccer there is no weather concerns for her or me! They still do not play head to head soccer at this point but they do race against each other to see who can score and also learn a ton of skills. If she continues on I'm sure we have many Saturday's ahead of us at the soccer field! My mom came with me and can not believe how much fun she has and how she can pretty much keep up with the older kids.
Savannah at art class. I signed us up for a Mommy and Me art class. So much fun for me to be able to see her at class and making all the projects. We have a great time and I know we will sign up for the next session too. She made her hat, necklace, a bat puppet, painted a pumpkin and more.

In free choice time she will usually make a trip to the play house area and play with the dolls, kitchen stuff or cash register.

Sitting and waiting at circle time. I have to sit on the other side of the room. Savannah loves to sing the songs and listen to the story of the week. Here she is sitting by the board which shows them all the projects of the week. This week we sang Witches on a Broom, and Slippery Fish.

Painting!!! I always try to have her do this first thing so it is somewhat dry when we leave in an hour! She loves to put lots and lots of paint on the paper. We have had themes of apples, leaves, my family and now 2 weeks of Halloween. I'm sure tomorrow we will do fall or maybe some turkeys are in our future!
That's part of where our time goes on Saturdays! It is also our special time to go to girls only lunch on some weekends.

What were you doing 19 years ago today?

I always remember........Earthquake day!! I was driving home with some KFC for dinner for everyone and thought I drove over something since my car was rockin' all over theplace in a way it had never done before. Then I saw a man run out of his house in a towel and a lightpost broke and then light went over and was hanging. Pretty much figured out it was a BIG eathquake at this point. Restarted the car and drove the back streets home. Walked in and my dad was pretty much freaked out and the pool was sloshing HUGE amounts of water back and forth. We still had t.v. service at that point and watched until it went out. Then turned on the radio.

Clark called from work and was able to call out to Grandma T. in Lake Tahoe. She was happy to hear we were fine. My mom called from Eastridge which is a pretty scary place to be when the shaking starts. She was working at a jewlry store on the bottom level so they went into the safe!

We ended up losing power and phones not long after but we were able to eat some of the KFC that I had picked up on the way home!

My friend Rebecca was in Utah at the time and gave birth to her daughter 19 years ago today too! So Happy 19th Birthday to Brittney! It's hard to not remember her birthday every year.

Update on the Mexico travelers.....they arrived and are far away from the rest of the wedding guests. Who knows why they are in section 4 while everyone else is in section 3????Maybe someone who arrived first arranged it that way? They said the food is not great and even though it is all included there is only one place to eat each day. Yep, the place has 5 restaurants but only one is open at a time! Kinda flaky if you ask me!!! My mom said the drinks are watered down and since she is a rare drinker I 'm surprised she noticed. Clark said to switch to beer since you can't water that down! They will be home late Sunday night and I have strict instructions to keep Miss S awake and to bring her with me when I come to the airport! We made a little video on Grandma's flip camera because she asked me to take the movies off (that's my job as technical genius lol) before she went. Hopefully, she will actually use the camera and take some video!!! or maybe some pictures!

Miss Savannah update......went to the dr. today for her 3 year check up. No shots that were needed but man she was a trooper and let Nurse Kathy give her a flu shot in the arm. Just like a BIG GIRL! I promised a lollipop and ice cream and we stopped for both on the way home. She is 35 and a half pounds and 37 and 1/4 inches tall. Right in the middle for height and 3/4 for weight. Just about perfect in every way like Mary Poppins! We are good until the 4 year visit and hope to not have to go see the dr. again this year.

Kyle update.......He made the wrestling team!!! He is number one in his weight class (heavy weight) Very proud of himself since he beat out 2 8th graders for the spot. Sad that his friend Seby did not make the team! First meet is October 28th so told him he needs to keep his grades up and homework done. He is in his terrible messy room right now looking for his missing house key! No t.v. or video games til it is found so true motivation is at work in there!

I know I am behind on posting pictures of the Party from last week but we had a killer weekend and I have been awful busy this week! I will try and post soon! We have a busy day of art class, soccer, and scary stuff at the Pumpkin Patch with the Taylors tomorrow night.

TTFN!! Have a great weekend!

Savannah turned 3 part 2.....

After a few hours taking a nap and waiting for Daddy and Kyle to come home, we went out to dinner with Grandma and Papa and Great-Grandma. The balloon lady asked if she wanted a hat and we said YES! She took all the colors in Savannah's dress and came up with this. It is probably as tall as Savannah is!
Grandma and Kyle enjoying their dinner and drinks. We had Mango Lemonade and it was awesome! Kyle wanted to try everyone's drinks. Papa got a Prickly Pear Margarita. Clark tried a Mango Mojito and then switched to some other tequila type drink and he enjoyed it more. He said he did not like the mint.....hello! Mojito's will always have mint but I enjoyed it so maybe I would order that again.
The free ice cream and sombrero!!!! She LOVED it and was so happy that everyone clapped and sang along to her.
Back to Grandma and Papa's to open some gifts. She got lots of lovely things and had a great time. We waited for Tina and Jospeh to come over and help us sing Happy Birthday.
Blowing out the candles. Making a wish----probably wishing to go to Disneyland! She is Grandma's girl after all!! After eating some cake, she talked Jospeh into singing and guitar playing. A great show that ended when Joseph got too into his rock persona and smacked her in the head with the guitar! After a quick recovery they were back to dancing like crazy fools!!! She is so excited to have her birthday and tomorrow is her party with her friends. More fun and more cake! You can't beat having as much cake as possible!!!!

It was a great way to spend the day and it is still hard to believe that she is 3 already! Time goes by much too quickly. For some other reason she has suddenly become very LOUD!!!! Also very independent! Savannah likes it to be her way and her way only. Hard to not laugh when she calls me mean or tells me I am not very nice to not let her climb on things or do something that she could get hurt on. That's my role as a Mommy and one I love but I see a few battles ahead in the next few weeks/months/years!!! Off to give my sleeping beauty a kiss on her forehead and to wish her many more years of wonderful, fun, family filled birthdays!!!!

Savannah turns 3!

Up early to say goodbye to Kyle. Mommy stayed home today so she snuggled into the couch for a little breakfast and Playhouse Disney watching! Coconut ate two of her mini-pancakes and ran around the house so I could not catch him.
Savannah asked since it was her birthday could she please have a bubble bath......whatever the Princess wants you know.....Coconut wants to join her.
Out to luch with Mommy and Grandma. We went to Red Robin at the Mall and they brought her a sundae and she loved it.
Back to pick up the morning pics that we took. She is a poser and we took all the pictures in no time. We also shopped at JCPenney, Bath and Body Works, and Barnes and Noble. Our girl is following in our footsteps and loves to shop!
A quick trip to the grocery store to pickup her cake and other items needed for her party tomorrow. She is all smiles and wanted to take 3 or 4 of the cakes on display home with us too.

Pumpkin Patch Pics

We had a fun time at the Pumpkin Patch this past Sunday. We went with Savannah's friends and their families. Savannah had a great time going on the cow train, the train and riding a pony. Kyle is waiting for our return visit with the Taylors to ride the mutant hay ride and other disgusting stuff!! We bought a couple of little pumpkins, a gourd and a tiny pumpkin too. Cost me all of $5.25!!! We left the BIG pumpkins for someone else. I'm sure we will add to our collection with the next visit we make. I can hardly believe that we have been coming to this Pumpkin Patch for 13 years now! It had grown rapidly each year and the prices for the attractions have risen as well!!! The train used to cost $1 now up to $4 each. Now I sound like an old person complaining.....hahaha

First Progress Report of Junior High.....

And Kyle did an excellent job!!!!!!!

He got 5 A's and a B!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!!! Very proud of the way he has settled into junior high. We still have our moments and I think I have a heart attack about once a week with one of his crazy "oh I forgot about that" things but we are making it.

Next week it could all change though....we are letting him try out for wrestling! Yes, it goes against my better judgement since he will have a lot on his plate but we will give it a try and see how it goes. Clark enjoyed wrestling in high school and at Kyle's weight class it will be hard to wrestle against someone but again he must keep his grades up to keep on the team and if he can do it all it will be a good team experience for him!

Yesterday was a marathon shopping and out to lunch day with Savannah! Had a great time just missed Grandma- she was doing her own crazy marathon shopping day! We had to leave when the stroller was going to fall over from all the packages! Poor Clark, I can only imagine how many of these kind of days are in our future! We did a fashion show for him when we came home.

We are headed off to our first pumpkin patch visit of the season (yes, we have 2 scheduled!) and looking forward to seeing those scarecrows and mounds of pumpkins. I'm sure to post photos later!!! Also need to work on the party plans......can't believe the little one will be 3 by then end of the week!!!!

The Joker!

Look at this BEAUTIFUL MAKEUP JOB!!! This is what happens when we organize all the art supplies in the afternoon and the parents are totally involved in the Amazing Race on t.v. At one of the commercials, I laughed way too hard to be too mad at her and told her to sit still while I ran and got the camera....nice parenting skills huh???!!!!!!
More posing and a clue in to any other Mommies who think taking all the markers out of the box and putting them in the spinning cool fun toddler toy at the toddler art table. This is what you can end up with!!!
You too can look so beautiful if you have Savannah do your makeup in the morning.........anyone want to take her up on the offer? She is also willing to draw a tattoo on you too.....not sure what you will end up with but her future business depends on referrals so I'm sure it will turn out great. One swipe of a baby wipe and she was back to her usual beautiful smiling face......anytime Clark or I need to smile we will look at this picture and laugh to ourselves! Too bad we can't all feel this great about ourselves in the morning!

Big Girl Bed!!!

Someone got a new BIG GIRL BED!!! This was her first nap in the bed. Savannah still is a decent nap taker. She will usually sleep at least 2-3 hours sometimes more. At night, she pretty much prefers to sleep with us. It is just not fair that she has to sleep all by herself when Mommy and Daddy have a big bed and get to sleep together!!! At least that is what she tells us. We have been working for a while to have her sleep in her bed but we are pretty unsuccessful after the 3rd visit at 4 in the morning. Yes, we are lazy parents who just prefer to sleep!!! She told us as soon as she got a big girl bed that she would only sleep in her room. So Daddy had enough of the "nightly visits" and he worked hard to build the bed and encourage her to sleep in it.
Twinkle Twinkle little star...how I wonder what you are.......Up Above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky.......Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!
More twinkle and a couple of stories later, she is ready for her nap.
Plenty of smiles later.........
and it is time for me to move the things off the shelves. We went ahead and bought a bed with a trundle since there will be lots of sleepovers and friends will need a place to stay. It does make the bed higher though and she can now pluck all the treasures off the shelf. I found most of them on the bed when I went to check on her.

She is still trying to get adjusted to sleeping in her room. She was on our bedroom floor this morning. We will keep trying just as we keep trying to potty train. She has a little bit of stubborn in her (gee, where would that come from? Must be from Great-Grandma!--they do share a middle name you know!) and I told her last night that she only has 10 days to be the winner. She wants to be the "winner" at everything so I told her Kyle is the winner right now since he went poop and potty on the toilet by the time he was 3 years old. He actually trained himself the week of his 3rd birthday so I keep holding out hope, but I have a feeling I need to make a pullup run this week!! She told my mom she wants to be the WINNER so we will go with that threat!
