HOMEWORK!!!!

Savannah has been begging us for homework. If she is at my mom's she does it with Grandma and they work on different things. Savannah has still not decided to be left or right handed. I think she might be left handed but for now we encourage her to try things with both hands. Here is the newest pile of homework books we are using.
She loves to sit at her art table to do her homework. I usually sit on the other side and clip my coupons or look at magazines. Sometimes I am cutting out stuff for her to paste but not working as fast as she would like me to!

She cut a chunk of hair off her head a month or so ago and now knows that scissors must only be used when an adult is around. Here they are a shark looking to eat some paper!

Trying to use both hands and see which fingers go on the bottom and which go in the top hole.

OOPs! upside down here!

Okay I will try the other hand too. I think at this point it is a good thing the scissors can go either way!

If one hand can cut then two hands are better right? We also worked on writing and she loves to do mazes to help the animals get to their baby or the river or whatever the puzzle writer thought kids would like.
Just asked her what her favorite part of school?......cutting.....I also like glue sticks they are pretty good to help the paper stick together. Only put the glue on paper not your belly. It is very sticky and not good for your belly. I have lots of fun doing homework. Playing Candyland is lots of fun too!
She is so serious answering but now she has to go back to watching Hannah Montana. This one is a basketball one she said! Off to help her and to do some packing...we are hitting the beach for some last minute fun before school and all the fun stuff that comes with it is here!

Poor Coconut.....

Here is Coconut wearing the latest fashions from Paris.....NOT!! Poor thing has to wear this awful conehead device for another week and a half! Got him neutered last Friday and he just wanted to come home.
It is almost as BIG as he is! He runs into walls with it and crashed into us as he runs along...oh yes, our doggie who is supposed to be laying around and relaxing....yah, not so much! He has been jumping on the couch since day 1!!

His body is bigger then that....now here he looks like he is 6 inches long or something but he is bigger....he weighs in at 7 pounds now!!!

Yep, kinda pissed off is how he is! It will go by before you know it Coco!!!

Dad's day out....

Going to the park is one of Savannah's favorite things to do. She will ask us everyday and especially if we see a new park in a neighborhood that she has not tried out yet! This is what we call Great-Grandma's park. It is a nice, little, very clean park that is on the way home from Great Grandma's house. If she is good at sitting still while we visit we will usually stop on the way home to let her run around.
She is not totally sure of the big rock but both Kyle and Daddy have helped her to climb it many times. This was a day when it was only Savannah and Daddy so they went to lunch at Panda Express....also a favorite and she only eats rice and noodles....and then off to the park. They also spent the day swimming at Grandma and Papa's house. Kyle and I went to see Harry Potter and do some back to school shopping for clothes. He is a little more picky this year but not much!

Swinging.....and learning how to pump her legs is pretty new. She still prefers us to push her!

Sliding is lots of fun and she goes on both the big and little kid slides.

Whee....cool static on her ponytails! They had a great time together and enjoyed their park time. I'm sure a Jamba Juice was involved too since it usually is on a Daddy and Savannah day!

More cooking class!

Back at our next cooking class......Can you tell how much she loves it. Today we learn how to make breadsticks and pesto dipping sauce. Yummy!
Today, there were only 5 kids so they made a group dough and then got to make their own sticks.

Savannah added the yeast and the oil for the dough.

Time to roll it out and make sure it looks like a breadstick!

Daddy came to class today so he helps out with the adding of the olive oil to make the bread shiny and taste good.

We had a choice of adding cheese to the breadsticks or leaving it off. Savannah decided that she did not want to put any cheese on it. After Mommy and Daddy explained it would taste better she was still not sure so only did one breadstick with cheese.

Onto Basil Pesto Sauce! The kids each took a bunch of basil and cleaned it off of the stems.
They added it to a food processor with olive oil, pine nuts, parmesan cheese and then each one had a turn making the green stuff go really fast!!! I think this was one of their favorite parts!

The finished product! It was yummy and she shared with us but would not touch the green stuff to save her life! I don't think any of the kids ate it but Moms and Dads each tried it. We made some the next day and now have a stash of it in our fridge at home. It is awesome on crunchy french bread.
Daddy went to with her to her next class to make ice cream!!! They made chocolate and vanilla and Clark said it was a very popular class. I stayed home to register her in preschool. I was worried about getting her in and the online registration was during the class. She is now offically signed up for preschool and will start when she comes home from her next Disneyland vacation!
Can anyone guess when and why they are going again?????

Summer Camp!

Here is Kyle up at O'dark hundred.....otherwise known as 3 a.m.!!!! Yes, we had to get up that early to see them off. They had a very long day ahead of them traveling to Long Beach to get on the ferry to Catalina Island!!!
Kyle dressed in full uniform....still a mystery to me as to why them make them get in uniform for traveling and eating....their uniforms are a sloppy mess by the end of the week and it is not comfortable to be in a buttoned up shirt for 12-15 hours!! But then again what do I know??? I am just a silly Mom!

Now he knows he needs to wear this hat. Kyle is actually pretty good about wearing his hat and rash guard to protect from the sun....not so great about applying suntan lotion!

Yes, shield your eyes!!!! Clark wears this crazy shirt so people can find him quickly! Thanks to my mom he also will wear it to Disneyland with us too! He looks annoyed because he usually is...although this is pretty much what time he gets up every day.

Kyle, Josh and Seby ready for camp! Stephen was so excited he ran off before I could take his picture!! They had a great time and Kyle was the only one in his troop to achieve the status of Pirate!!! GO KYLE!!!! He had to run around and do a ton of stuff that he hates (hiking!) to get it done but he knew he wanted it so he worked extra hard. He also was the only one in his troop besides Clark to do the mile swim in the Ocean!!! He did it last year in a lake and wanted to try the ocean this year. Good thing he is a strong swimmer. His only disappointment in summer camp was not being able to achieve the scuba patch. This is the only place they can get it but you must be 14 years old....missed it by a year and he will probably be done with scouting before they go back to Catalina Island. I have not looked at Clark's camera yet to see what pictures he took but also know my buddies Jose and Chris will give me a disk of the week long pictures!!

Cooking Class.....

So, we have been busy doing normal everyday kind of things and swimming a TON! Once we found out Dance Camp was cancelled due to low enrollment I went searching for something else fun for Savannah to do. We found Lil Chefs.....cooking for 3-5 year olds! This was our first class and we made homemade pretzels! YUMMY!!! All dressed and ready to cook.
Everyone got their own bowl and added ingredients to it to make a dough. We had a small accident towards the end of the line and will probably never put our bowl on the edge of the counter again but one of the teachers took Savannah to the back of the line and helped her start again while I wiped it up. I don't think anyone even really knew what happened and that was GREAT as far as I was concerened!

Rolling her dough out into a snake shape.

We went for a heart shape instead of the traditional pretzel shape.....always girly you know!

While the food is cooking the teacher will read them a couple of stories to help with being bored and to prevent the running around crazy time that they could go into if left alone. Some parents stay and some parents leave. Some of the parents that stay are nice and helpful and then as always you have a few that need to control their kids and not be their friends!!!
Once we had so much fun, I signed us up for the 6 session class. It is every other week or so...I think it depends on when they feel like having it. The next class we went to was strawberry muffins and I did not bring the camera. They were pretty warm so we took them with us and I don't think I was on the freeway yet when Savannah said....mummmm tasty muffins Mommy! I said did you still save one for Daddy...yes, I have one left. I decided to do some shopping and when I got off the freeway she asked for my hand-which means reach back so I can give you something.....yep, the other muffin paper and she said Sorry Daddy none for you this time!
I picked up the recipe for the muffins as we walked out but did not look at it until we got home....it was the recipe to make 2 mini muffins!!!! No way am I dragging out all the stuff to make 2 muffins....gotta do some math and figure out how to make a BIG batch for my family!
