It was the week before school started and we had originally planned to go to Walt Disney World in Florida. We thought it would be a great time to go to Florida and get one last trip in before we would need to attend freshman orientation and kindergarten orentation. Clark had the time off but with my whole crazy job situation I cancelled the trip. As it got closer to school starting and not really planning any other vacations, I decided the week before to book a trip close to home and go! The kids were excited to go to the beach and being that San Luis Obispo is only 3 hours from home made it a good choice. We were going to relax and have family fun for 3 days! We made no other plans besides a hotel and we were just going to do whatever happened! I looked up some places to visit and read up about the area but booked nothing and tried not to over plan like I usually do. Our first decision was about 2 seconds before the freeway exit to visit Hearst Castle and the town of Cambria. I told Clark it was the next exit and he decided okay let's go. We had not been since Kyle was little and it was interesting to see the changes in the town. When we arrived it was cloudy and overcast. When we left we took this picture from the parking lot and thought it was cool we could see the castle now!

We toured the exhibits they had in the visitors center. They have lots of things to look at and movies to watch and other interesting things about the Hearst family. It was nice to have a display of things you can touch since so much is off limits. Here the museum showed items that had been touched and things in a case that had not. Made a lot of sense to Kyle why they blocked things off and didn't want you to touch things. We showed them the tiles from the pool which was another touching item! You could see the gold inlay and the amount of work that went into each piece.

Outside we were looking around and enjoying the sunshine. Savannah became very interested in the looky things that we saw everywhere! She tried them all out and I think she never actually saw anything sinc we did not put the money in the slot! She kept telling Clark....Daddy this one is broken too! Funny stuff but she was having a great time. Kyle said he did not want to go on the tour so after our time at the visitors center we walked down to the beach area and looked around again.

Here is the map of California and Savannah was so happy to find the letter S on the world! She is really starting to be interested in writing and learning the letters. S is the most popular letter right now and she points it out to us on signs, in the paper and on items we use in the house.

Kyle pretending to have a good time. Before this Clark and Kyle were watching a squirrel and I think the pics are on the other camera. Seemed very tame and they were watching him do his daily chores or something!

We took Highway 1 towards San Luis Obispo after our adventure at Hearst Castle....here we are stopped at what looked like an accesible beach! It was nice and the kids had lots of fun running around and playing in the waves. Water is still cold!

Clark and the kids on the HUGe piece of Driftwood.

My turn! I made Clark take a picture to show that I actually went on the trip!

Kyle is such an excellent big brother! He makes sure she is careful and still has fun! The difference is size is amazing but I am so happy and lucky to see that they have a great relationship together!!!

Running on the beach! I'm sure she was shrieking like a banchee....she is such a GIRL!!! Loves the water and sand though! She was ready to stop at every beach that other people were at but we kept on driving! We went thru Morro Bay and thru the college at San Luis Obispo and looked at some other sites before stopping for lunch. It was a PINK lunch! Coming up next.........
