Another night at Junior High...

Clark and I attended Back to School night at the junior high again. Nice to see some parents we know and get to meet Kyle's teachers. Clark was amazed at the back and forth across campus runs that we did but we did not get a morning break or lunch in the schedule! Kyle seems to be handling the change to junior high pretty well.....a few things we learned and will now be more into looking at his messy backpack and binder!!

A funny 12 year old boy story too.......

Last week we were getting ready in the morning and he was taking Coconut to Tina's (hi Tina! and thanks again!!!) so she could watch him for us. He took the cage and food and then came back to get the dog. I was waiting for him and running around doing some last minute stuff. I wanted to load the car so when he came back home, we could go off to school. I really should learn to stay out of his room. It is pretty messy most of the time and he does have a path so in I went to look for the backpack. Found it but also noticed dirty clothes on the floor. You can tell when the jean shorts are laying there and he just stepped out of them and that is where they stay! I loaded the car and went back in his room. I picked up some dirty shirts and threw them in the hamper, then onto the shorts. I picked a pair up and they weighed a TON! I knew something was in the pockets so I reached in and pulled out 4 handfuls of change. Pennies, dimes, nickels, and quarters. Who knew where he got so much change???!!!! I put the shorts in the hamper too and went out to the car.

While we were driving to school and making plans for the afternoon pickup, I happened to ask about this pair of jean shorts. Kyle proceeded to tell me that after he did his homework he wanted to know how much the change that he had weighed. He said he filled up his pockets and then weighed himself. After he knew how much it was he took his pants off and reweighed himself! He asked me if I wanted to know how much it weighed. I said nope, just wanted to know what you were doing. Sometimes it is better to not know what they are doing!!! I guess I can be proud that he was creating a math problem for himself instead of watching t.v. or playing video games. I also think only a 12 year old boy would do this. A girl would have lined up all the money grouping it together or found out how much it added up to so she could go shopping!

At least he gave me the laugh of my day and I remember I was never a 12 year old boy so I can learn from him everyday!
