Thursday.....a junkyard visit!

We get up and go downstairs for our free breakfast and it is crowded but good. Everyone gets their fill on fruit, muffins, french toast, biscuits and more. We call Michael and since they felt like they slept in a tin can all night from the storm they are not ready to go. We decided to head over and check out A & A Auto Museum. Kyle had found an article about this place in the South Dakota magazines my grandma had given him to look at. I printed off the ever faithful Map Quest Directions and off we went. We drove for a short bit and ended up at a junkyard!!! My dad could not get out of the car fast enough!!!! He was in vacation heaven. We looked around outside and this bull is made of Cadillac bumpers. Not only do they collect junk around here they make art out of it.
In the parking lot......does anybody need a seat?
We entered the office and were amazed at the amount of stuff one family has collected. They are professional collectors for sure. It is a dad and his two sons. We looked around the "free" museum and then my mom paid for us to all go into the $6 museum. Amazing place and since I know nothing about cars I threw this picture up....gotta figure out how to do a slide show since I have about 200 pictures and my little camera overheated in here. It was really cool....big thumbs up for finding the place and we had it all to our selves! Not on your normal tourist route.
We walked thru their storage area and this is the stuff that they sell on the internet....you need a wire for a steering column for a 1977 Gremlin? we'll they just might have it here. A hubcab for a 1985 Cadillac? oh yah right over here.....Amazing place. My dad stopped to talk to the owner on the way out to find out if he knew of any place that would have what he was looking for.
Savannah had enough of the cars so she went back out front to ride this buffalo for the 100th time that day. Papa came out and told us we needed to go look at a place a mile or so down the road......off we went and thank goodness we had four wheel drive.....we drove thru farm land and then turned down a muddy dirt road. Drove until we stopped at a job trailer mobile home and off my dad went inside. We laughed about how many other people would go to a junkyard on their vacation. My dad and this man came out.....The man was about 5 feet tall and wide wearing bib overalls. He jumped into an old International and my dad said hey, we will be right back. Okay, whatever we will just wait here in the car. They did a drive-by tour of this man's junk! Nothing that my dad wanted today but I think we could have left him here for the rest of the week and he would have been happy!!!
