Mt.Rushmore

The little kids are off to check out Mt. Rushmore. I think Joseph is telling Savannah which way to go which will last for about a minute! I'm not even sure if they knew what they were supposed to be looking at. The kids found California's flag and posed in front of it.
Grandma and Papa with the Grandkids at the Monument. Joseph hates having his picture taken but loves Kyle so we try and pose him with Kyle always. Makes Kyle do lots of work!!! Rebecca said she still wanted to collect a rock from here!
Closer view of the four presidents. The visitor center has changed quite a bit and now provides much more information. This was also the place that we were pulled over for speeding. It is a two lane road on the way in, very hilly and curvy. We were the lead car and Michael and Tina were following us. Noticed that the speed limit changed but thought it was 35-40 so Clark is driving and comes around a corner to tourists stopping at an outlook. He hits the brakes and we both notice the white car with lights......the cop turns on his lights and flips a Uturn....ahhh is that for us? Clark looks in his mirror and says YEP! no real place to turn out so we drive a bit and look for a turnout. Cop comes up and asks for our rental agreement and Clark's driver license. We scramble to find the rental agreement and the cop says we were speeding. Going 42 in a 25. Clark said he did not see the sign change to 25. Cop says he will be right back. Great.....at this point we are almost at the monument and millions of people are driving by and saying Glad it is them and not me!!! Including my brother----Mr. Sombrero wearing joker! I ask Clark to ask the cop to take a picture for the blog and Scott told me to shut up and be quiet. I thought for the price of a ticket, he would want to be famous on my blog! HA! Anyways, he comes back and gives Clark a warning and tells us to slow down and enjoy the monument. Scott said it was because he has a semi driving license and they know they can lose their job if they get too many points etc.....plus since he has that kind of license he should know better!

I said we all have to agree on what we are going to tell Michael about the price of the ticket. I pull out $862 and Clark has to go back to South Dakota in about 6 weeks. Everyone agrees and off we go. No one really asks except for Rebecca and she tells me, "Don't tell my dad, I asked....I will be in trouble!" Perfect person to tell since I know she will run back and tell them. Tell her "$862.00" She says that is a lot of money and promises not to tell. Unless my mom spilled the beans, Michael still thinks that Clark got a ticket.
After our visit to the monument, we drive carefully and within the speed limit to the next town. I think it was Keystone. They find this place that has Buffalo ribs and to continue their tradition of eating every kind of buffalo-we stop. I tried the pulled pork and it was good. Also nice to get a salad. It is weird how most of the sides there were starch and we Californian's love a salad.....see our sterotypes are sometimes correct. Don't get me wrong though.....we still love some good meat too!! It is already 9 p.m. or so once we are done eating so back to the hotel for a sleep....this is still the same day and man did we pack a lot in today.....we'll see what tomorrow brings after the storm tonight that will wake us all up at some point!
